Yarn Along - Knitting on Cardigan

I have been trying to get this cardigan finished but throw a trip to Kansas in there and a couple of busy weekends besides the pneumonia, and you have slow progress!

I have been working on it though and all that is left is to pick up the stitches up the fronts and neck and create that awesome looking band.  This has been a fun knit but it looks a little wonky to me but the measurements are perfect.  Go figure!

On the reading front, I'm enjoying my Monica Ferris books.  Actually, they have put me in the mood to do a little embroidery but not sure I can switch between that and my knitting! :-)  I'm reading Framed In Lace and believe me, these books are a quick read.  Love that about them!

A Day Late Yarn Along

I'm a day late posting my progress on Blue Honey. 

It's coming along nicely.  I wish the edges didn't roll so bad while knitting so progress could be seen better but I'm at least half way there then I get to Block!!!  Can't wait!


On the reading front.  I'm sticking with my Knitting Cozy Mysteries of course.  I'm reading A Deadly Yarn by Maggie Sefton which is the 3rd book in the series but the 4th that I've read.  My used book store didn't have it so I skipped ahead to A Killer Stitch a couple of months ago.  Low and behold they had this one in a couple of weeks ago so picked it up and thought I should read it.

Also battling pneumonia at present.  Had a shot in the Fall yet here I am struggling with it and my asthma so I've actually had more time to knit!  Just wish I could feel better.

Yarn Along March 5

Participating in Ginny's Yarn Along: Books and Knitting!! 

Hopefully this won't be my only Yarn Along post for March.

I've put my Lady Marple sweater to the side after going to my local yarn store (actually not so local, it's 35 miles away) and finding the most beautiful Malabrigo yarn! There was a sample knit of a long sleeved Blue Honey. I fell in love with it!!!!
So, I bought the yarn, bought the pattern and got started.  It has been so much fun to knit even though I only have one sleeve done.  It's a One Piece Side to Side pattern and is so awesome.  The designer was a sweetheart and helped me figure the cast on and length for the long sleeves.  The shop knitter (owner) wasn't available so once again "Ravelry" to the rescue!  Love that site!!!!

On the book front, I finished my first Mary Kruger book and now am on the second in the series, Knit Fast, Die Young, and found out that's all there is at present.  Hope she writes more because they sure put you in the mood to knit. Motivation!!!

I've started a new sweater and am finishing up a pair of fingerless gloves.  I've also been reading a cute cozy mystery "Died In The Wool" by Mary Kruger.  I love a simple read especially when I'm concentrating more on my knitting.
The sweater pattern is Lady Marple by Nadia Crétin-Léchenn.
And the fingerless gloves are really just my version of  Easy Fingerless Gloves by Maggie Smith.

It's been awhile.....

since I've posted.

My knitting is usually the priority and yet I'm not sharing much of it on here. And not very often.  I hope to do better in the future but no promises.

My current projects have included another pair of Monkey's (the best sock pattern in the world), several pairs of fingerless gloves and I've just begun a sweater. The pattern looks awesome, Lady Marple by Nadia Crétin-Léchenne.

Just 2 pair I made!

 Besides knitting, this Winter has been unseasonably warm for the NW corner of New Mexico. We are only 30 miles from Durango, Colorado so we usually get quite a lot of snow but not this year.  I'm afraid drought conditions will be bad this Summer.

We have had some cute visitors most days and their "herd" is growing....LOL.

Hopefully, I will keep up with my blog and rekindle many of the friendships I had in cyberspace.

February Yarn Along

It seems like I've really been in the mood to knit lately.  I finished both sweater for my granddaughters.

 Top sweater is actually a shrug style for Avery and the bottom one is a waist length for Emma.  They fit them so perfectly.  I can't wait to deliver them this coming weekend!!!

 

Now I'm back to my old standby, socks! I don't know what it is about knitting socks but it's so relaxing and it seems that even a complicated pattern goes rather quickly.  Now that I said that, I just hope I keep motivated and finish the 3 pairs I have started.

I love the monthly knitalongs on Ravelry's Sock Knitters Anonymous group.  I haven't really participated for awhile but decided to work on 2 of my socks for the month of February which has one criteria of using an 'under appreciated' pattern.  So that's what I'm working on for SKA. 

Then I started another pair of Monkey's by Cookie A. because that is definitely my go to pattern for socks. I've knitted several pairs for my older sister and so although I don't have any Monkey's for me, I decided to start a pair.  We'll see who ends up with them...lol.

As for the book I'm reading, I'm still working on The Water Lily Cross by Anthony Eglin.  I love his writing and his very descriptive style.  I'm a real mystery lover, especially the cozy mysteries so this book is great.  I started it over a year ago then put it aside to read other things.  Now I'm back at it and only have a couple of chapters left.  Can't believe I ever put it down to start with.  Good book!

Yarn Along Dec. 19

I love participating in Ginny's Yarn Along!

 

I've been knitting all week!  My dishwasher went out and my hubs and I decided not to get one for awhile.  It's not like I don't know how to do dishes or anything after 37 years of marriage and two children and two grandchildren.  I actually prefer to do dishes sometimes.  It brings back memories of my childhood which included my older sister and I doing the nightly dishes in one of the smallest kitchens I can remember.  It was cozy, though!!!!
But now, the reason for knitting was to get an arsenal of dishcloths for my kitchen.  I am the type that wears my dishcloths out!  They are threadbare when I finally put them in the rag bag (still don't throw them out).  So I got out my cotton stash and went to work.  I actually have enjoyed this knitting because it is mindless and still keeps me busy.  I'm using my old standby pattern which is so simple yet they look so cute!  I must admit her dishcloths look much more appealing than mine but it's a simple pattern.

The book I'm looking at (not really reading but sort of.....kind of.....lol) is Hans Brinker!  I remembered the movie Hans Brinker or The Silver Skates.  It's winter and it's a 'winter' book so thought I'd check it out.

And this is why knitting and reading sound good about now!!!!

Yarn Along

I love participating in the Yarn Along but I haven't done so in such a long time but today I change that!  Good to be back!  Thanks, Ginny, for such a great opportunity to share projects.

I'm still working on the little sweaters for my granddaughters and the cable socks I started so long ago. 

 In the meantime am actually finding some time to read Super Immunity by Dr. Joel Fuhrman from cover to cover.
I love his books on health. 

Some Knitting for the Winter

I've been trying to finish some projects started last Winter/Spring.
I did finish the "green" sweater that I wasn't sure about because of the yarn but I do have to say it turned out great.  I had made it for myself but my sweet daughter is a 'green' fan so I couldn't resist just giving it to her.
This was such an easy pattern and a joy to knit (just not in the Summer, too hot).  The pattern was Neck Down Pullover for Women by Diane Soucy, a Knitting Pure and Simple pattern on bought on Patternfish!

The sweater was made with Hobby Lobby "I Love This Yarn" tweed.  It knit up very nicely but seems sort of stretchy.  My daughter loves loose fitting sweaters and it should be very easy to care for since it isn't wool.



I've also been trying to finish my cable socks.  I just have maybe 3 inches to go and I can't seem to pick them up again.  I'm just not enjoying the toe-up patterns as much.  I got this pattern on Ravelry and started them last March.  Boy I didn't do any knitting during the Summer it seems!

I got some great yarn in Durango, CO while my sister was here the end of September and I need to find a pattern to knit them up in.

I started sweaters for the granddaughters and sweater one is coming along nicely.  Very quick and easy knit.  The pattern is very simple and comes in children and adult sizes.  I thought it would be cute over some long sleeved tee shirts in some of the colors in the yarn.

So far that is what I've been up to this Fall and for the start of the Winter.  I am gaining on my projects so will be starting a new pair of socks, SOON!!!

Here's My Summer Home!

This is where I'll be most of the summer.  It's all ready to go with just a few tweaks here and there still needed.  I can't believe how beautiful our weather has been so we've been spending every evening on the porch enjoying the hummingbirds and little house finches while away the hours with flutters and song!

I've been working on a pair of cable socks for my March socks.  I've spent so much time sitting that I really need to get back on my eating plan so out came the books and rereading for motivation!  Puts me in the mood for Summer, too, when there is all those lovely vegetables available at the Farmers Market.  These 3 books are so wonderful, I highly recommend them and the companion movie "Forks Over Knives". 

February Socks

Just posting my February sock project in March but that's what happens when you finish them 5 days later than you planned.  The pattern is Serpentine from "Socks from the Toe Up" by Wendy D. Johnson.  Loved the yarn which was a discontinued Sanguine Gryphon Kypria colorway: Leda.  I loved working with this yarn and wearing the socks.  So comfy.

Now my March Sock Project is Cabley Goodness Toe-Up Socks by Erin Case.  I started them the day I finished the Serpentine's so hopefully I'll get both done before April 1!!!  We can only hope!

Flaming Desire

This was my December 2009 Yarn for Socks project that FINALLY got finished in February, 2012!  How terrible to leave such a beautiful sock alone for such a long time....LOL.  But now they're together!


This is the first sock, started in December, 2009 and finished in January, 2010.

  

These are the completed pair.  Second sock started in January, 2012 and finished in February, 2012.
